Description of the organization
Finance Club UoM is an independent, non-profit student organization. It was founded in 2015 by students of the University of Macedonia and adresses to students of all universities with a common interest in economics and finance. FinC UoM aims to connect students with modern financial science and bridge the gap between academia and the job market. The club has more than 200 members since its inception, who staff the Marketing, Fundraising, Academic and Analysis teams, and the Magazine and Blog writing team.
Actions that the organisation has organised or in which it has actively participated
"he UoM Business Game is an international economic competition that takes place in many countries around the world. Finance Club UoM is collaborating with Alliance of European Business Games (AEBG) for carrying out the competition on an international level and is bringing the competition to Greece via the University of Macedonia. The competition takes place every year in May and lasts 2 days. Candidates receive a mini case study and their resume gets evaluated before the contest. Lastly, 100 of them are getting selected to participate in the competition. The UoM Business Game has English as its official work out language because of the various ethnicities of the competitors. The contestants work in pairs of 2 and in groups consisting of 2 teams are called to solve and present a solution on the cases that the companies have assigned. That way, there are 25 teams of 4 people. The themes are Marketing, Consulting, Risk Management and Fintech. The cases regard possible situations inside each company. Based on their performance on the cases, the teams get a score. The team with the highest score is announced as a winner and recieves the money prize of 1000 euros! Furthermore, the UoM Business Game offers the opportunity for networking between the contestants and the representatives of the companies, via a big Networking Event!
Trader’s Trophy Challenge IV (for 4th continuous year)
It is about a portfolio simulation competition in which anyone from Greece and abroad can participate. At first, the contestants are trained by experts on a stock exchange simulation platform that matches real market prices. After they become familiar with the platform, the game begins! At the beginning of the competition, a large virtual amount of money is given to the participants so that they can shape their own portfolio as they wish. Stocks, bonds, exchange rates, and even cryptocurrencies compose the players' portfolios. When the challenge is complete, the three contestants with the most valuable portfolios are awarded cash prizes!

Volunteering opportunities provided by the organization.
Any active undergraduate or master’s student, can become a member of FinC UOM, up to 2 years after obtaining their degree. FinC UOM members are able to attend all the club’s activities. Exclusive events, such as workshops and seminars, conducting Finance related researches, that are then being published to prominent media platforms, as well as often visits to the headquarters of renowned corporations are also included. Members are also eligible to participate in the club‘s teams (Marketing, Analysis και Academics, Fundraising, Blog).
Anyone interested can become a FinC UOM member if qualified, throughout the entire year. Applications for all the teams can be filled during the beginning of the academic period (September-October).
